Naz Kisnisci
What is your full name?
Naz Kisnisci.
What is your first name?
Naz.
Where were you born?
Turkey, Ankara.
Where do you currently reside and work?
Currently, I live in Singapore but often travel back and forth to Europe.
What is your educational background?
I hold a BA in Graphic Design from Bilkent University, an MA in Visual Brand Design from Domus Academy, as well as an MA in Fashion Styling from Istituto Marangoni in Milan.
What are other experiences that have led you to your current work?
I have been immersed in creative fields with a strong passion for fashion. My grandmother was a fashion designer, and growing up in her atelier gave me early exposure to fashion and design, deepened my appreciation for craftsmanship, and helped build my creative confidence from a young age.
After university, I moved to Milan, where I completed my master’s degrees and began my career in fashion. Living and working in Milan, with frequent trips throughout Europe, broadened my perspective on luxury, culture, and art. After seven years in Milan, I took a leap of faith and moved to Asia, which offered me a fresh perspective beyond my own culture and Europe. Now, after three years in Singapore, I have launched my business, Balcone, an online concept store rooted in both European and Asian influences. This cross-cultural experience has been essential in shaping my vision and professional path.
How would you describe your practice/business?
Balcone is an online concept store based in Singapore that curates culturally empowered and innovative European fashion brands, infused with Asian style. We strive to redefine the future of fashion in Asia by championing disruptive brands and creating a community we call the "Balconese." Our e-commerce platform not only showcases a carefully curated selection of high-quality products and diverse brands, but also supports emerging talents who share strong cultural values and a commitment to creativity, stepping away from the fast-fashion mindset.
At Balcone, we believe fashion is a powerful form of self-expression that transcends trends and logos. It is enriched by the stories and values behind each garment, connecting us with individuals who are confident, authentic, embrace life’s simple moments, and have meaningful stories to share. This vision lies at the heart of what we do at Balcone.
What are the highlight projects in your career so far?
Building and recently launching our website, balcone-store.com after more than 1.5 years of work has been a major highlight on its own. Prior to Balcone, I built a global audience for PAP Magazine as their Fashion Director for 4 years in Milan. Additionally, what keeps me energised these days is my fashion styling and consulting work with C-level executives, influencers, musicians, and magazines.
What are you currently working on?
We are expanding Balcone to other markets in Southeast Asia, which is taking up most of my time these days.
