Jose Arturo Luis Antonio B. Nepomuceno.
What is your first name?
Artu.
Where were you born?
Metro Manila, Philippines.
Where do you currently reside and work?
Metro Manila, Philippines.
What is your educational background?
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Photography, from De La Salle College of Saint Benilde.
What are the experiences that have led you to your current work?
I have been a photographer for as long as my career can remember!
How would you describe your practice?
I am a fashion, portrait, and advertising photographer based in the Philippines. Over my 11-year career, I have had the opportunity to work with some of the best magazines and brands my country has to offer. Alongside my business, I have devoted my craft to telling the stories of people, primarily through the international NGO Waves for Water. It is with this organisation that I have been humbled to see some of the most beautiful places on earth, and meet some of the most incredible communities.
What are the highlight projects in your career so far?
They are Vogue Philippines “Beauty 2023” issue: “Apo Whang-Od”, Cathedral of Shadows at Art Fair Philippines 2024 with Fashion & Market and Art Agenda, and “Light Notes”, a series I have made on Instagram that breaks down my work on both a technical and philosophical level.
What are you currently working on?
An exciting trip is coming up for Waves for Water, a story about my grandfather just came out on Vogue Philippines, as well as a couple of shoots for Vogue are coming out soon, and a few subjects lined up for Cathedral of Shadows.
What do you have coming up?
I have recently signed with Artists and Co. Manila, an agency that will be representing me and my business as I aim to hit a more international market.
