Fashion and Race Database
Created by fashion educator, Kimberly M. Jenkins, Fashion and Race Database is a digital library that spotlights and amplifies racialised and marginalised voices in fashion through publishing research and under-examined narratives. In ‘Objects That Matter’, for example, the cultural and historical significance of clothing such as the terno, the national dress of Philippines, and the Áo Dài, the traditional dress of Vietnam, are highlighted. The growing database aims to diversify conversations intersecting fashion, race and history.
